A
Yoga Celebration Raises over $3,000 for Ropes
Wall
Saturday, March 8, Noon—8pm
What
a great day! Thirty students took part in
the afternoon classes. We began with 3 generations
having yoga fun in the Family Class. Next
some challenges for the more experienced students
taught us to stand on our own 2 hands and
open our chests. Classes concluded with more
chest opening in a relaxed way that calmed
the nervous system and renewed us in the restorative
class.
During
the evening reception and open house over
50 people enjoyed conversation, delicious
food, inspiring videos, and the swinging sounds
of the Makeiak H.S. Jazz Quartet.
Lily Geil, our favorite 4-year old yogini,
drew raffle tickets and Ann Geil was the winner
of the $250 Portrait Package from Photo Essence.
There were 19 other lucky winners in the raffle
as well. The silent auction peaked the interest
of many there and brought in about $1,100.
Many thanks to our contributors for both.
Linda Billingsley, Thursday evening Level
II class, single-handedly sold 45 raffle tickets
to win a free session of classes.
There
is a small section of ropes wall on display
at the studio for you to see. We are hoping
to get the real thing up by the start of the
Spring/Summer session. We need a few volunteers
with some building expertise to help us for
a day. If you have some experience and would
like to help, let your teacher know.
Events
like this prove over and over again what a
wonderful community we have at THIY. Thanks
again to all who helped. Keep watching for
the wall!
Iyengar
Yoga Teacher's Class
Next class TBA - keep checking!
If you teach Iyengar Yoga, please join other
teachers for a class of shared information.
We'll share information from workshops and
classes we have recently attended. There is
no charge but you need to be an active teacher
to attend. Call for more information or to
let us know you are coming.
The
Yogi's Kitchen
Each new session we'll feature a recipe
that
has been tried and tested at potlucks, family
gatherings, parties, or just at dinner from
a student or teacher in our yoga community.
If
you have a recipe that features healthy
ingredients that everyone can enjoy, please
send it to us. Include information about
its history if you can… perhaps it was handed
down from your grandmother, or you served
it at your last party and everyone raved.
This month's recipe, 'Orange
Marmalade Muffins' comes from Angela
and is an addition to her nutritional information
on the importance of breakfast.
