A special weekend workshop with one of the most sought after teachers in the Iyengar Yoga community.
Knowing more about the underlying principles of yoga philosophy can bring a deeper meaning to your practice. Chanting not only adds an enriching dimension to your practice, but also helps with your breath. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for an enriching experience for anyone with an interest in yoga and its many benefits aside from the asana. Registration will begin August 30th.
About Leslie Freyberg:
A certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, Leslie came to yoga after twenty years in the dance and theater profession. While a member of the Jean Erdman Dance Theater, she met Ms. Erdman’s husband, the renowned mythologist Joseph Campbell. It was through Campbell’s seminars on the mythology of India that Leslie received her first exposure to Sanskrit, the language of sacred sound, ancient Indian texts, and of yoga. Years later, Leslie met the late Mary Dunn and embarked on her study of Iyengar Yoga.
Leslie has studied Sanskrit extensively with Vyaas Houston (director of the American Sanskrit Institute) and other scholars.
While attending yoga retreats with acclaimed Iyengar Yoga teacher Patricia Walden, Leslie began to develop chanting sessions with fellow participants. The chanting of Sanskrit mantras proved to add an enriching dimension to the yoga practice. Leslie continues her studies with Patricia Walden at Yoga Mala of Cambridge, MA., where she enjoys leading Patricia’s students in chanting.
As a member of the faculty of the American Sanskrit Institute, Leslie travels nationwide under its auspices to teach the foundation of the Sanskrit Language, an indispensable component for the serious study of Yoga. Leslie teaches the Iyengar method of asana and pranayama in her home town of
Redding and in Ridgefield, Greenwich and Stamford, CT. She serves on the faculties of Patricia Walden’s Yoga Mala, the Iyengar Yoga Institute in New York City, and at TheYoga Space in Stamford.
She conducts weekly classes in Sanskrit at the Yoga Shala of Georgetown, CT.
From time to time, Tree House Iyengar Yoga hosts special events at the studio that bring our students, teachers, and their families and friends together off the yoga mat. Our events range from potluck dinners, to classes on yoga philosophy, and fundraisers for various charities or scholarships. We have a vibrant and diverse community with a shared interest in living a meaningful life.
We hope that you will join us at our next event.

Potluck for Departures and Arrivals
Celebrate two special occasions with us.
Michelle Ringgold is departing the end of September for an extended adventure. We want to give her a great going away party—so good that she’ll be sure to come back!
And
Ewa and George are expecting the arrival of their baby girl on September 16th. If the new one is an early bird (like her parents) we may get to meet her as well.
So bring your favorite food and the family and join us for a fun evening. There will be a surprise or two in store.
Studio Remodel Gets High Marks!
During the August break from classes, the studio got a facelift.
By taking out the wall that enclosed the props area, we created more floor space
and
more open access to the props.
Many thanks to Dennis Rempel for his many hours and expertise that allowed us to do this remodeling that Pat has been wanting to do for about 6 years.
We also got an assist from Robert Musburger, Anne and Lily Geil, Tara Bernstein and Angela McKinlay.

So many thanks to all!
